Hollis Conway is a faithful husband, a father, and an ordained minister. He is also the president of Overcoming Obstacles, Inc., a non-profit motivational speaking company. Conway is currently at UL- Lafayette as the Assistant Director for Diversity, Leadership and Education. Hollis has authored two books: YES I CAN and GRASSHOPPER.
Conway was a six-time NCAA All-American, six-time conference champion and three –time NCAA Champion for the UL- Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns from 1986-89. He enjoyed a decorated international career that included Olympic medals for high jump in 1988 in Seoul, Korea and 1992 games in Barcelona, Spain. He is one of only three Americans to ever win two Olympic Medals in the high jump.
He has numerous awards and set many records in his Hall of Fame career. His 1991 jump of 7’10.5″ still stands as the American Indoor Record some 17 years later. The Chicago native was inducted into the USA Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2015 and is also a member of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
