WHAT IS THE BEE?

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Covington 1st Annual Corporate Adult Spelling Bee is a fundraiser to bring people together to have fun for a great cause. Proceeds from the bee support Kiwanis programs for the children of the community.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Teams of 3 adults come together to spell words in a fun and friendly competition with other teams. Each team is given one word per round and has 30 seconds to come up with the correct spelling.

If they strike out, they can buy their way back in with a Rebuzz. ($25 each, 3 max purchase per team) If they want to discard a word and draw another word, they can buy a Buzz-off. ($25 each, 2 max per team) And if they want to get an opposing team by springing a rotten word on them, they can buy a Stinger. ($50 each, 1 max per team and only 1 may be used on a single team. Once a team has survived a stinger, another stinger may not be used on them.)

Teams can win in a variety of categories: Best Spellers (1st Place and a $300 donation made to charity of choice benefitting the Covington Community), Most Room for Improvement (1st eliminated), Best costume/uniform, Best name and Best team spirit.

WHERE DO SPELLERS COME FROM?

Spellers come from the community. Sponsors can send their own team or we will find a team to represent the sponsor.

WHERE DO SPONSORS COME FROM?

Teams will be sponsored by groups made up of Banks, Law Firms, Medical Practices, Hospitals, Civic Clubs, Non-Profit Groups, Corporations and other Community Businesses.

Sponsorships are available at five levels: Queen Bee, Super Bee, Honey Bee, Bumble Bee and Bees’ Knees. Different levels bring different benefits.
